The Susquehanna University Choir made a special stop on their tour today to visit the students of the Downingtown East HS Choir. The SU Choir is one of the premier choral ensembles in the country, having recently been chosen to perform at the NAfME All-Eastern Convention and PMEA All-State Convention. Roughly one half of the choir is comprised of music majors with the other half representing various other major fields of study such as science, business, and theatre.
Susquehanna University boasts a #1 state ranking in PA for job placement after graduation according to Zippia Inc. and its study abroad program is ranked #2 in the state by the Princeton Review. Their Global Opportunities or "GO" Program requires all students to study off-campus for as little as two weeks or for up to an entire semester. 90% choose to do that in another country, while the rest complete their cross-cultural experience within the United States.
Despite it being a small, private, liberal arts school, SU was also named by Money Magazine as one of the country's most affordable universities, "delivering the most value- that is, a great education, at an affordable price that helps students launch promising careers". 98% of its students receive grants to offset their costs bringing the average total costs (all fees including room/board and tuition) down to $30,000 a year for students who receive aid and $16,500 a year for low income students.
The SU Choir is offering any interested DEHS Choir students an opportunity to attend a choral institute there this summer where they can stay on campus for a week to study with the university's music professors and get a taste of college life. Details can be found at
